Position Title: Director of Advancement
Reports to: President

The Director of Advancement leads the Advancement Department and works closely with the President, Board of Directors and Alumni Association to oversee and manage all aspects of the school’s development and public relations program.


  • Conduct Annual Fund campaign, including: Phone-a-thon; Board, Parent, Faculty appeals; Year-end and Fiscal Year-End appeals; Individual donor gifts
  • Direct the annual St. Francis DeSales Benefit Feast
  • Work with the Director of Finance to plan, fundraise, evaluate and award student financial aid scholarships
  • Develop and implement advancement campaign efforts
  • Develop and implement a planned giving program to include such gifts as bequests, trusts, insurance programs and pooled income funds
  • Implement grant-writing program
  • Maintain database files on all school families, alumni, donors and prospects. Work with the Director of Finance to maintain accurate accounting records on all parts of the Advancement programs
  • Develop and manage the Advancement Department annual budget
  • Perform the Public Relations function for the school, including promotional materials, newsletters, annual reports, promotions and presentations
  • Manage the Advancement and Alumni sections of the school web page
  • Act as the liaison to the DeSales Alumni Association, including: assist in reunion planning and event coordination; communication of goals and objectives; and publish an Alumni Directory every 5 years
  • Provide oversight in the management of the Associate Director of Annual Giving and Special Events and volunteers
  • Provide Year-End Reports for constituent giving totals and percentages to the President, Advancement Committee and the Board of Directors
  • Any other duties assigned by the President


Prime support received from the President; guidance from the Advancement Committee, Benefit Feast Committee and the Alumni Association


  • Minimum five years progressive Advancement experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance, Marketing or related field
  • Experience in financial budgeting and reporting
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of social media administration
