Walking the Way of Francis

Retreat Group

On Saturday, January 16th, a group of twelve freshmen and sophomores from DeSales joined teacher Mr. Bill Moore at the Fifth Annual Men’s Retreat at St. Athanasius Church.

The day-long retreat, which waived the cost of attendance to young men in the 7th-12th grades, focused on “The Challenge of Walking the Way of Francis: The Saint and Our Pope – Are You Ready?"

Friar Robert Baxter, OFM Conv., who serves as the Director of the Mount St. Francis Center for Spirituality in southern Indiana, led a motivational and inspiring day of discussion and reflection centering on Pope Francis’s message to “Go and bring Christ into every area of your life."

Mr. Moore commented that Brother Baxter and several of the other retreatants were impressed by the participation of the students from DeSales.  One individual in particular noted that he hopes his grandson attends a high school with such a notably high level of spiritual commitment.

Thanks and congrats to all for representing DeSales so well in the community and for living out our school's tenets of Faith † Brotherhood † Tradition.  We pray that everyone who attended may be able to celebrate the season of Lent in a more fulfilling and faith-centered way!
