Hello, fellow Colts!
I am honored to have been selected to serve as the chairman of the newly formed DeSales Alumni Association Board of Directors for 2018-19 and 2019-2020. As you may be aware, a decision was made earlier this year to transform the DeSales Alumni Association. Specifically, the Alumni Association is no longer a non-profit entity separate from the school. Instead, it operates as a board of the school.
The new Alumni Board comprises 17 appointed members serving on a variety of board sub-committees. Consistent with this move, DeSales hired Travis Wagoner this summer as a full-time Associate Director of Alumni Relations. Travis is a new member of the DeSales Advancement Office team, joining Director of Advancement Joshua Blandford H’14 and Associate Director of Special Events Rob Weikert.
The Alumni Association is board-driven, staff-supported and supportive of the mission of DeSales High School as one unified body. The Alumni Association supports numerous events during the year, including the Alumni Golf Scramble, Trivia Night, class reunions, Golden Legacy Breakfast, Phonathon, Men’s Retreat, Hall of Honors Dinner and Day at the Downs. These events are tremendous ways to reconnect with classmates, spread fellowship and, of course, recall the glories of DeSales days past.
A little about myself – I am a proud member of the Class of 1980. My love for the Colts started early, as I was born while my oldest brother, Fred (Class of 1963), was a student at DeSales. Supporting DeSales was a family thing with my brothers attending the school, my father helping in the Coach Room, my sisters being around the school as fans and Teen Club attendees, and my brother-in-law, Marty Minogue, serving as a long-time teacher, coach and principal. I have spent the last 12 years serving on the DeSales School and Foundation boards. I am a proud member of the men of Brown and White!
Throughout our history, the Alumni Association has been directed by dedicated and effective leaders. I am proud to stand on the shoulders of these fine men. I know you join me in thanking all who have served and supported the Association.
