What did you do right after graduation?
After graduating from DeSales I worked in golf retail and went to college.
Describe DeSales in three words.
Brotherhood, Loyalty, Family
Where are you and what are you doing now?
I currently live in Louisville, KY and own and operate Commonwealth Capital Mortgage LLC. We have been open since August of 2008. We do home loans in the state of Kentucky. We are in the process of getting our license in Florida and Indiana as well.
What do you like most about what you are doing?
I love meeting and talking with new people on a daily basis.
What is your favorite memory about DeSales?
My favorite memories are from my time playing basketball all 4 years at Desales.
Who influenced you most during your time at DeSales?
Mr Koop, Mr. Medley, and Coach Burns
What classes and learning experiences did you have at DeSales that are beneficial to the work you do?
The life skills at Desales are what helped me become who I am today. This helped me take a chance on my current business and become self-employed. I always tell people I have my degree in people and customer service.
What is the most important thing you learned while you were at DeSales?
I have so many, but Brotherhood is always the main thing I took away from Desales.
What advice do you have for current (or potential) students at DeSales?
Give full effort on a daily basis. Don't be afraid to meet new people and learn from others. The four years at DeSales were amazing but don't last forever, so enjoy it to the fullest. The “real world" is tough.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy spending time with my wife of 19 years, Melissa Blakely, and our 10 year old daughter, Makayla. My other activities are horse racing, basketball and golf.
Do you still stay in touch with any of your DeSales friends?
I stay in touch with a lot of my classmates regularly.
What’s next for you/where do you see yourself in five years?
I see myself living in Louisville and growing my business at Commonwealth Capital Mortgage. I’m looking forward to buying a Florida home for winter visits in the next 5 years.
