DeSales Athletics is proud to announce the new Cross Country Coaching Staff for the 2021 season. Coach Tracy Edgerton will act as the Colts’ new head coach, alongside assistant coaches Rob Young and legendary KHSAA Hall of Fame coach and DeSales alum, Chuck Medley ‘70.
“I am excited to get back into coaching in general,” said Coach Edgerton on his hiring, “but I am super excited to be able to collaborate with Coach Medley and Coach Young to help be a small part of resurrecting a program that has so much rich history and success.”
When DeSales Athletic Director Don Bowers ‘81 approached Edgerton about the position, Edgerton immediately thought to reach out to Medley and Young.
“I said to Chuck, it’s time to come home and give back to the place that means so much to you,” said Edgerton. “A few emails and a lunch date later, here we are.”
Edgerton has been a running coach for more than 25 years at schools across the country, including Mercy Academy in Louisville. “Running will help any athlete in whatever sport they choose to do. The old adage is ‘you can't do any real sport without our sport.’"
