High School Graduation Year

2015

What did you do right after graduation? College/career/travel/military?

After graduation, I went on to become a manager at a restaurant. When I became a manager (supervisor) I thought about the unlimited possibilities in the world and decided to pursue my career in law enforcement and became a corrections officer as the first step in my career. Now, I am working on becoming a deputy sheriff.

Describe DeSales in three words.

Faith! Brotherhood! Tradition!

Where are you and what are you doing now?

I am currently a corrections officer and am pursuing my dream of a deputy sheriff.

What do you like most about what you are doing?

I like being in a position to help people. Every day is different, and I don’t know what to expect when I walk out from home in uniform yet I know one thing and that’s to protect and serve the community I live in.

What is your favorite memory about DeSales?

My favorite memory at DeSales would have to be the pep rallies.

Who influenced you most during your time at DeSales?

The person who influenced me the most would be Coach Hammond. He taught a lot of valuable lessons. One thing I do remember is that nothing in life will be easy. If you want it you have to work for it. You can do anything you set your mind to.

What classes and learning experiences did you have at DeSales that are beneficial to the work you do?

Coach Mac’s World Civ class. In today's day and age, when politics and government change day to day, it’s a good thing to have. I use what I know and can research to make good judgment calls for voting or keeping up with day-to-day politics.

What is the most important thing you learned while you were at DeSales?

The most important thing I learned at DeSales is that you have to earn it. Nothing will be given. If you want something you never had, you have to be willing to do something you have never done.

What advice do you have for current (or potential) students at DeSales?

The best advice I can give to current and future students is to follow their dreams. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can't and then not follow them. All you have to do is take the first step. Invest in yourself.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I like to spend time at home with my family and my Great Dane dogs, Oscar and Millie.

Do you still stay in touch with any of your DeSales friends?

I keep in contact with four friends from DeSales. To this day, we still hang out when we get a chance and are not busy with work.

What’s next for you/where do you see yourself in five years?

I am currently working on going to the sheriff's department (JCSO) to seek further career advancement in my law enforcement career.
