High School Graduation Year
1998
What did you do right after graduation? College/career/travel/military?
Bellarmine for a year then transferred to graduate from NKU, then back home for a year to teach at DeSales for one year and moonlight working at WDRB, worked on a few movies at home in Kentucky, then moved to NYC to really kickoff my career in film and TV
Please describe DeSales in three words.
Small and proud
Where are you and what are you doing now?
New York and telling stories anywhere and everywhere they'll let me
What do you like most about what you are doing?
Creativity and storytelling are truly all I know how to do and all I've really ever wanted to do, it's incredible and over the years the people around me have taught me that it is in its own way incredibly important.
What is your favorite memory about DeSales?
My years playing football and wrestling were pretty formative and incredible, but honestly my time with Tim Keogh and the drama club is probably what most affected who I am today.
Who influenced you most during your time at DeSales?
Tim Keogh, no question
What classes and learning experiences did you have at DeSales that are beneficial to the work you do?
Drama club of course as mentioned above, but I also loved my time learning a little German and the humanities and world religions classes. Also all of my art classes were very much a part of my discovering or at least embracing that some kind of creativity was always my true calling for whatever reason.
What is the most important thing you learned while you were at DeSales?
Your education isn't as much about the institution's prestige or cost, it's about who you meet and what you make of it.
What advice do you have for current (or potential) students at DeSales?
Follow your dreams. I know it may seem reckless and/or silly, and it can be scary, but if you persevere I promise it's worth it.
What is your favorite DeSales Event? Why?
Hard to say, I've been away from home and DeSales for a long time now
What do you like to do in your free time?
I still love watching movies if you can believe it, and watching some TV of course. Oh and playing music sometimes to relax or release (a habit and past time I formed in the World's Most Dangerous High School Pep Band!)
What is something people may not know about you?
Never been on a horse, never fired a gun. Try being from Kentucky and telling people in New York City either of those
Do you still stay in touch with any of your DeSales friends?
Plenty and as often as I can
What’s next for you/where do you see yourself in five years?
We're making a documentary about my nephew now. From there we also plan to be shooting a new scripted/fiction feature of mine in the Catskill Mountains of NY this coming spring, we're hoping to have that and the doc on a festival run sometime in the next year or two.
